Keep a Poem in Your Pocket

"Poem in Your Pocket" Day is Friday, April 30, 2010. Inspired by the poem "Keep a Poem in Your Pocket" by renowned children's author, Beatrice Schenk de Regniers, this celebration of poetry has occurred since 2002.

The Library Media Center has been brimming with poetry this week as students have been listening to, reading, writing and selecting poems to keep in their pockets for this school-wide tradition. On Friday homerooms will meet with their buddies to share and celebrate poetry!

Keep A Poem In Your Pocket
By Beatrice Schenk de Regniers

Keep a poem in your pocket
And a picture in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.

The little poem will sing to you
The little picture bring to you
A dozen dreams to dance to you
At night when you're in bed.

So - -
Keep a picture in your pocket
And a poem in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.

Do you have books overdue? So does George Washington!

Yes, it's true, even George Washington was a little late returning his library books, too!

As a reminder, all books from the Roeper Library Media Center must be returned by Monday, May 24, 2010. Families are responsible for the replacement cost for any books that aren't returned.
